Obesity can be due to many factors like increasing habit of fast food, lack of exercise, heredity etc. The truth is that many people are obese or overweight based on guidelines formed on body height and frame size. Have we not heard Fat is not fit? Obesity is an increasing risk factor which results in too many health conditions some of which can even lead to death of the individual.
Some of the diseases and conditions associated with Obesity are Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart attack, Heart failure, Prostrate and Colon Cancer, Gallstones and gall bladder disease, Gout, Osteoarthritis, Sleep Apnea, Metabolic Syndrome, Dyslipidemia etc. Obesity in men has been associated with reproductive hormonal abnormalities, sexual dysfunction, and infertility. In women other than Polycystic Ovary Syndrome it can also lead to other problems with Infertility and pregnancy complications.
Obesity also can lead to other conditions like depression, social discrimination and problems in getting employment. However, many of the obesity related conditions can be reversed with a proper weight loss program, healthy diet, lifestyle changes and exercise.
